Virgin Australia provides free flights to rescue dogs

Virgin Australia has partnered with Jetpets and will work along animal welfare groups to provide free flights across the country to rescue dogs

The airline will help thousands of abandoned dogs find new owners interstate, potentially saving the lives of thousands.

The first dog to take flight was Rough Collie Lallee who was flown from Melbourne to Sydney this week to join new owner Raymond Willmott.

Virgin Australia Cargo Chief Executive Merren McArthur said the company were excited about helping Jetpets and rescue organisation “overcome distance and travel barriers so pets could be matched with loving homes”.

With more doors open right across the country more dogs will be able to find their fur-ever home.
