Christmas, a poem by Jeanie Axton

Poem

 If I was a dog
My favorite time of year
Would be Christmas
And New Year
The humans stuff themselves
With glee
Then all the leftovers
Are for me
Turkey and cranberry
Stuffing and Ham
Chicken and potatoes
Pork and jam
And after lunch
When its time for a sleep
I curl up quietly
Not a peep
I dream of more food
Soon to come
This time of year
Is heaps of fun

Jeanie Axton lives with her husband Nick, two dogs, two cats and three chickens in the beautiful South East of South Australian Mt Gambier, famously known for its Blue Lake. A secondary teacher at a local Lutheran College, Jeanie has been dabbling in the area of children nonsense poems for many years. She expresses the comedy in animal antics and in her poetry.
