At Dogs Life HQ we are surprised to see that Miranda Devine lashing out at pit bull breeds, claiming “if 1000 pit bulls have to die, that’s a small price to pay to save one child.”

You can read the whole article here.

We are definitely saddened to hear of the death of two-year-old Deeon after he was mauled by the family’s Bull Mastiff cross, however we don’t agree with her decision to attack the breed.

Not so long ago she was blogging about her own dog Biggles, a Border Collie x Lab, after he savagely killed a possum saying, “Grudgingly I admire his hidden talent but it will take a while to warm up to him again. My dog-loving friends scoff when I say, today it’s possums, tomorrow it’s babies, but it does go to show you can never be complacent when sharing your life with another species. ”

Even Devine has admitted that people have been attacked by Labradors – one of the most popular breeds on the planet. “Who could forget French woman Isabelle Dinoire, the first person to undergo a face transplant – a face transplant she needed because her pet Labrador chewed her face while she was unconscious. ”

So what do you think? Do you believe all bull breeds should be euthanised or is it the deed not the breed that should be punished? Have your say in the comments below.
