Mothers are not always defined as those that have children. Some devoted ‘mums’ are guardians of the furry variety – their dogs.
Kerry Martin of Melbourne-based Akemi Photography has celebrated all mums by capturing stunning images of “parents and their children”. She said the bond she has seen between some of the human owners and their fur babies is easily as magical and significant as that of human-human relationships.
“The relationship between a dog and his human is a precious thing and there’s no denying that some people treat their dogs as their children,” she said.
“As mums get ready to celebrate Mother’s Day, us mums of fur-babies are also celebrating the special bond we have with our kids.”
