So many wonderful animal related events this month! I just can't wait for the movie Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, so I've added some super cool info about Team Dog and included a free Cats and Dogs printable activity book! I've also got some fun Doggy Trivia and a little bit of history about the origins of our Schnauzer cover dogs!

  Diggs: Top Dog
Diggs is a talented but hot-headed German Sheapard he was booted from the police academy but was recruited by the covert canine protection agency D.O.G. who believe he has the heart of a leader and has what it takes to make a great agent

Butch: Alpha Dog

Butch is brave and reliable. He's nearing retirement and can't wait to sit, lie down and stay but the D.O.G big shots think he's the perfect partner for newbie Diggs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lou: The Pack Leader

When Lou first started at the D.O.G he was just an eager beagle, but now he's ready to take on the top dogs! He's the senior operative at D.O.G and is a proud papa to a litter of his own!

 

 

 

  

 Fun pooch facts

Dogs only sweat from the bottoms of their feet, the only way they can discharge heat is by panting

Dogs have about 100 different facial expressions, most of them made with the ears

Dogs have about 10 vocal sounds

There are more than 200 different breeds of dogs

Dogs have an exceptional sense of smell, being 100 million times that of humans

Domesticated for more than 10,000 years, the dog was one of the first animals domesticated by humans

Schnauzer Galore!

Can't get enough of the super cute Schnauzer pups on the cover of Dogs Life 102? We can't either! Read on to learn some quirky facts about these adorable balls of fur.

 

The word Schnauzer comes from the German words Schauze meaning snout or muzzle and Schnauzbart meaning moustache. Quite fitting wouldn't you agree?

 

Schnauzers are energetic, lovable and loyal; they love being included in all the family fun.

 

Schnauzers are very smart and need activities to challenge them and keep them occupied.

Three cool things to do this month...

#1 Gulliver's Travels

August 16- August 20

If you live in Northern NSW keep an eye out for a giant model Guide Dog as it tours the region for the first time from 16 to 20 August. This friendly looking guide dog is called Gulliver and he is helping raise awareness of the free services Guide Dogs NSW/ACT provides for local people with impaired vision.

#2 Meet Spot!

August 20-22

The lovely bouncy puppy Spot will be making a special guest appearance at the ABC Gardening Australia Expo. Wish him a happy birthday and learn lots about gardening too!

#3 The University of Sydney Pet Fair

August 28

This year the Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital's annual Pet Fair promises to be the biggest one yet with fabulous all-day family entertainment and celebrity guest Bondi Vet's Dr Chris Brown. All animal lovers, families and their pets are invited to come along and join in the excitement
