Strike a pose

They say every dog has his day and that was certainly the case when a dozen doggy divas from New York recently took a stroll down the dogwalk — ahem, catwalk — for the Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) annual pet fashion show.

Wearing canine couture designed by FIT students, the dogs — including two lovable mutts from an animal shelter — were styled in everything from a white satin ruffled gown to a chic bedazzled rhinestone raincoat. But what was our top pick? The oh-so cute purple star outfit worn by Cherubino, an adorable Bichon Frise!

From all accounts, the pooch parade went off without a hitch (no attempted escapes or messy accidents in sight!) and the crowd was clearly lapping it up, oohing and ahhing over all of the furry fashions on show.

Bo's big first year

First Dog Bo Obama, a Portuguese Water Dog. Offical White House photo by Chuck Kennedy.

Everyone’s favourite presidential pooch, Bo Obama, has recently celebrated his first year living in the White House — so just how has the canine coped with life as part of the First family?

Looking at official happy snaps from the White House — which includes photos of Bo and President Obama playing ball in the grounds of the world-famous residence, as well as the adorable Portuguese Water Dog chilling out in the oval office — everything has gone swimmingly well. Bo has also won over the hearts of people far and wide with his playful personality and oh-so adorable face, including reporters who cover the mostly serious stories that come out of the White House. Fox News blogger Kimberley Schwandt recently caught up with some of her colleagues who report on all things White House-related to find out about what they had to say about the First Dog…

“[Bo] likes to romp around the North Lawn with his White House minder in tow. Bo is given pretty wide latitude and is almost never on leash. Bo is approachable and he approaches. Like every dog, he loves to be petted and almost never barks… Also, in case you are wondering, I’ve never seen Bo relieve himself on the North Lawn. Bo, you see, is a classy dog.”

Major Garrett, Fox News Senior White House Correspondent.

“He's a nice dog. Never barked at me.”

Wendell Goler, Fox News White House Correspondent.

He seems like a nice dog. And there have been no reports of him biting reporters. At least not yet!

Eve Ziebel, Fox News White House Producer.

Unlikely friends

An animal lover in Cambridgeshire, UK, has found herself with a unique and utterly adorable crew of four-legged friends that have formed a bond that’s sure to stand the test of time.

The proud owner of Daisy the dog and her feline friend Hector, Jane Croft recently welcomed six little piggies — Biscuit, Chinook, Frenchie, Manuka, Nimrod, and Serge — into her menagerie of animals. According to Croft, Daisy and Hector were instantly smitten by their new friends and have since become super close with the micro-pigs, spending almost every hour of the day together.

"They can't stop playing with each other," Croft, a breeder of micro-pigs, says. "They may be a handful at times, but when it comes to feeding it's like a well-oiled machine... or maybe a military operation."
