Welcome to the next instalment of Dog Tails. When clients visit us for studio pet portraits, they often recount the stories of their dogs lives. With each dog being different, so is each story. Some are happy tales, some inspiring, some sad, but each one ends with love as their dog subjects find a place and person to call their own.

In April 2015 we had a visit from Kay and her four month old West Highland Terrier pup, Hamish.

Kay shares her story with us. “My partner Glenn and I lost our four month old Westie, Fergus, to pneumonia. We were heartbroken and Glenn found a registered breeder in Queensland who had a litter of Westies.

We bought Hamish across from Queensland and picked him up from the airport at 10 weeks of age. He was very happy to see us and licked us to death.

Hamish is a very happy, cheeky boy who keeps us on our toes. He loves to get into things he shouldn’t.

His favourite thing so far at home is his half clam pool that’s filled with water. He’s managed to spread water all over the yard. He’s got a big dog personality in a little body.

He is an expert time waster. At night he loves to cuddle up on the couch and relax.

Hamish is teething right now. This morning I came out of the bathroom to find he had eaten part of the front door in the corner. Of course he looked at me like ‘What happened here?’.  Obviously his chew toys aren’t so interesting.

He loves to chase leaves in the backyard and will bring one inside to show what he’s got. He’s at his granny’s a bit and loves to just follow her around and play fetch.”
