Welcome to the next instalment of Dog Tails. When clients visit us for studio pet portraits, they often recount the stories of their dogs lives. With each dog being different, so is each story. Some are happy tales, some inspiring, some sad, but each one ends with love as their dog subjects find a place and person to call their own.

In September 2015 we had a visit from Helen and her three black Labs, Archer (15 months), Cricket (6 months) and Pluto (2 years).  Helen shares their stories with us.

“Pluto has been with us since he was a puppy and he is in training with Guide Dogs WA. Soon he will be going onto the next phase of his life, helping someone in need. He takes his job very seriously and we are so proud of the dog he has grown into. He is such an amazing boy that I hunted down his registered breeder who lives in Queensland. Knowing it would be a dreadful wrench when Pluto left us, I organised for Archer to join our family. Unbelievably he has the same mum and dad as Pluto but is just a year younger.

We loved Archer so much we wanted to add another pup to the household and along came Cricket. She is the pick of the litter and at some stage, when she is older, she’ll return to Queensland to have her own litter of potential Guide Dogs. Then she will spend the rest of her days with us. Cricket is a beautiful, affectionate, people-oriented pup!

Archer is the most beautifully laid back dog but does have a habit of ‘tunnelling’ between ones legs! Now this is cute when you are prepared for it or have a pair of jeans on but when you get home from work and have a pencil skirt on and said pencil skirt does not have a lot of give and said dog does not understand that said pencil skirt is not going anywhere, person has not a lot of places to go but down on the ground. Cricket thinks this is just the bomb and lands on ones face with many licks. This has become the greeting of day!”
