Dog Tails – Alice and Romeo

Welcome to the next instalment of Dog Tails. When clients visit us for studio pet portraits, they often recount the stories of their dogs lives. With each dog being different, so is each story. Some are happy tales, some inspiring, some sad, but each one ends with love as their dog subjects find a place and person to call their own.

In January 2017 Eliza and Glen visited us with their Boxers, Alice (4 years) and Romeo (2 years).

Eliza says “Alice came from a registered boxer breeder and we chose her from a litter of 11 puppies when she was a week old. She spent her first 9 weeks living on a commercial orchard in Griffith, NSW with her brother Winston. They both travelled to Perth together by plane, initially sharing one crate until they reached Sydney, then they were placed in their own crates because they were too big at 9 weeks.

Alice is generally very quiet and only cries when her toy is out of reach, like under the lounge. She loves to give hugs and kisses and knows many commands and tricks, like roll-over, spin and twirl, curtsey, sit pretty (beg), head down, relax (play dead). She also enjoys swimming.

Romeo is a lover not a hater. He lives up to his name and is very smoochy-cuddly. Romeo came to us in July 2015 as a 6 month old puppy from sunny Queensland. He was destined to be a show dog but he had an undescended testicle and was instead re-homed with us. How lucky are we?!

Romeo loves his toy balls and will take one to bed with him at night if you let him. His favourite game is fetch and he likes placing a toy or ball in your hand or on your lap to let you know ‘it’s a good time for play’.

During his first summer with us, he learnt how to swim in the pool and at the beach, now we cannot keep him out of water. Romeo is just adorable with his quirky ways and is a good little brother to Alice.”
